Be Careful on RoadsThe road of Costa Rica are often in poor condition. There are many large potholes that can damage vehicles. Traffic signs are inadequate and not all roads are marked. Many roads do not have names, Intersections can be dangerous because there is obstruction most of the time. Farm animals, cyclists, and pedestrians often walk on roads, so be careful of them. Traffic laws are often ignored and speed limits are useless. Turn signals aren't common, so be watchful of the cars near you. Traffic jams are common in San Jose, it's better to leave earlier than the supposed time.

Water SafetyWatch out for channels of turbulent water, unusual coloring of ocean, a formation of algae and/or litter moving in the sea, and a disturbance in the waveline that is heading towards the shore. Not all can be dangerous but some can. Always swim with a buddy and listen to the lifeguard. It might seem childish, but it can save lives.
